The analytical data on travel traffic for the period January-October published by the Bank of Greece show that the estimate of record international arrivals of over 38 million, including cruise passengers, for the whole year for our country will be confirmed.
In detail, for the period January-October, incoming travel traffic recorded an increase of 9.2% and reached 33.8 million travelers, compared to 30.93 million travelers in the corresponding period of 2023. In particular, travel traffic through airports increased by 9.9% and that through road border posts by 8.5%. During this period, travel traffic from EU-27 countries amounted to 20.73 million. travellers, up 10.7% compared to the same period in 2023, while travel from other countries increased by 7% to 13.06 million travellers. Travel from the euro area countries increased by 11.9%, as did travel from the EU-27 countries outside the euro area, by 8.3%.
In particular, travel from Germany increased by 14.9% to 5.22 million travellers, while travel from France increased by 7.3% to 1.91 million travellers. Travel from Italy also increased by 10.3% to 1.94 million travellers. Regarding other countries, travel traffic from the United Kingdom decreased by 2.2% to 4.39 million travelers, while that from the USA increased by 7.9% to 1.37 million travelers.
